Vijayawada: Owners of lands listed prohibited under Section 22A of the Registration Act of 1908 may heave a sigh of relief with the State Government contemplating to unveil a new policy to remove the restrictions.

Under the section 22A of the Registration Act, a State Government is allowed to prohibit registration of certain documents/clases of documents against public policy through an official gazette. Sources told Bizz Buzz that guidelines will be issued to immediately allow the poorer sections for registration up to a certain extent of land.

Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad has already directed the revenue officials from the districts to furnish information on lands listed under the section. Earlier, he said at a review meeting held with Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) RP Sisodia, Chief Commissioner of Land Administration Jayalakshmi and Additional CCLA Prabhakar Reddy that they would also conduct a resurvey of the lands to remove curbs imposed during the previous government with an ulterior motive. He alleged that some lands were illegally included in 22A by the YSRCP regime.

The Minister said they would initiate action against officials involved in shady deals like creating fake passbooks and manipulating records to procure bank loans. He said each village will be considered as a unit for the resurvey. He said they had received as many as 1.80 lakh complaints and the grievances will be redressed soon by issuing new passbooks.
